THE PIER

PIREN - trailer from Stavro Filmproduktion on Vimeo.

Not sure if this work was conceived as a film or whether that came after the fact, the cynic in me would say the trailer, the book, the film, the product, the extras, the t-shirt, the stickers etc etc is a tad unnecessary and maybe detracts from the power of the work had it just been created for its own sake and then discovered. However, that would perhaps be over romanticising the nature of art, particularly in todays climate where we have access to technologies that enable us to distribute works to a global audience, something that street art has excelled at and benefitted from. So maybe this is just a very good example of the coming together of a usually disparate set of media around a single idea. Art Concept, Production, Film, Book, Distribution.. including this Blog, we all become complicit in a bigger story and debate that perhaps makes the world a more interesting place. And if not, if it all becomes too much..we can at least retire to a place under the Pier to escape this onslaught of media noise.

Ok, that's too much thinking for a Monday, ultimately it's a great piece of work and I for one am looking forward to see the film.

THE PIER

EVERYTHING CAN BE CHANGED, EVERYTHING CAN BE TURNED INTO POETRY

Somewhere under a pier in Malmö, Sweden, Erik Vestman and Nils Petter Löfstedt stumble upon an undiscovered hollow. For six months they build Malmö’s most secret room with white walls and a parquet floor.
