This is the Francis Crick DNA statue by Lucy Glendinning in Northampton. It has two strong resonances for me. The first is that I grew up in Northampton and was keen to get away all my life. I have been back many times since I left over 15 years ago but didn't even notice this great statue which has apparently been there for 4 years already. Only when I had my camera was I even looking enough to see it. The second is that my life has closely followed that of Francis Crick (though no Nobel Prize for me yet) so he is like a shadow at the edges from which I draw inspiration.Tuesday, June 2, 2009
